M’aixeca, no toco de peus a terra i donem voltes
The project explores the intergenerational transmission of memory, knowledge, and loss through two archival objects: a Latin dictionary annotated by my father at sixteen, and a herbarium he collected from the local flora where we both grew up. Using only the words he underlined in the dictionary, I composed poems and fragments, constructing an imagined dialogue across time and languages.
Parallel to this, I attempted to reconstruct the herbarium, filling in gaps where pages and specimens had been lost over five decades. The attempt to restore the collection reveals the inevitable changes in the landscape, as certain plant species have disappeared or altered with time.
Through acts of writing and mending, the project amis to reflect on the fragility of memory, the transformation of language and environment, and the tension between preservation and loss. It proposes intimate/material ways of sustaining connections across generational, temporal, and ecological distances.
